The Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center has designated Springfield as a bronze Walk Friendly Community according to a release from the city of Springfield. Applicant communities are rewarded when they show a commitment to improving "sustainable walkability and pedestrian safety through pedestrian programs, plans and policies" according to the release.
