MoBikeFed comment: St. Louis has been behind other cities of similar size across the country in hiring a staff position dedicated solely to bicycle and pedestrian planning and design. Many cities comparable to St. Louis have several staff people working on bicycle and pedestrian issues.

Nevertheless, kudos must go to the city, the Board of Aldermen, and Mayor Francis Slay for stepping up and adding this important new position. It is something local, statewide, and national advocates have been asking for, for many years
