Courtroom jockeying over a related civil lawsuit led to a mistrial Thursday in the criminal case against Sunset Hills Mayor Mark Furrer, who is accused of striking a bicycle rider with his car in a rolling exchange of insults on Old Gravois Road in 2014.

The prosecution promised to retry the case. Furrer’s lawyers said the mayor was disappointed by the unexpected end of the trial, in its third and final day of testimony.
