Students who attend Nevada Middle School could soon have a new place to workout.

"We have decided to put in a trail at our middle school where the children can walk before school, increasing brain activity," said Karen Marquardt, Healthy Nevada Community Coordinator.

The concept is inspired by a recent study which states a direct correlation between exercise, memory retention, and learning.

"Not only are they getting up and moving in the morning, their brains are more active. And more active brains leads to easier learning, better retention, and in the long run, kids feel better about themselves," said Marquardt.

The trail, which is expected to be completed before the next school year begins, will be constructed in an open spot directly behind the school. It will be eight feet wide, and made out of concrete. Marquardt says the trail isn't just for students, it can also be accessed by the public during non-school hours.
