The City of St. Joseph Health Department is hosting "Smart Cycling," a three-week program for bicyclists to learn practical bike-handling skills, especially while riding in traffic.

The free program will include topics such as bike selection and helmet fit, riding basics, rules of the road, riding at night and in inclement weather, bicycle maintenance and more. The course will conclude with a road ride.

The course is primarily geared for adults but is open to those 12 and older. Those who attend all three sessions will be eligible to win a helmet, bike lock and lights.
