The City of Piedmont is seeking a grant to extend its walking trail, according to information presented at the Tuesday, Oct. 11, Piedmont City Council meeting. The trail currently ends just past the Ash Street pavilion. City leaders want to extend it to the end of Handy Park, which would lengthen it three blocks. . . .

“We hope to get this grant application funded,” said City Clerk Tammy Thurman. To help its grant application process, the is asking several businesses in town to write letters of support for the project. The Piedmont Rotary Club and Piedmont Area Chamber of Commerce have agreed to write letters of support. The city has also set aside $35,115 for a cost share if the application is approved.
