It might not be the time of year for many to go out and grab their bike for a ride, but officials there are several resources around the city that aren't being utilized.

Bike paths and repair stations can be found all throughout St. Joseph, but it seems not too many people are taking advantage of the free services.

"We kind of get dependent upon using a car to get around for transportation. When you go to other cities that have become more walk friendly and bicycle friendly then you kind of see the benefits," Nancy Taylor with the St. Joseph Health Department said.

Over the last couple of years, especially this past year, several in the city have been working to make St. Joseph a bicycle friendly community.

"We recieved an honorable mention so we're really kind of doubling down this year and really going to hit it hard to make it even more bike friendly so that we can reapply and try for the bronze status," Taylor said.
