MoBikeFed comment: Recently Missouri State Parks opened a public feedback period to gauge public feeling about the idea of accepting 144 miles of the Rock Island railroad corridor as part of a new Rock Island Trail State Park.

The new park would connect with the Katy Trail on both ends, and also connect to a new 47-mile segment of Rock Island Trail between Windsor and Pleasant Hill.

Now that the comment period is over, State Parks has opened a new web site with information about the Rock Island corridor, including maps, photos, and summaries of the public comments with regard to the proposed new park, which were overwhelmingly positive and supportive of the idea of creating Rock Island Trail State Park.
