Is the Katy Trail or the Rock Island Trail flooded or closed? Here is how to find out . . .

Flood waters have been high this year in Missouri.  Much of the Katy Trail and Rock Island Spur are along rivers or in low-lying areas--and some of those areas are prone to flooding.

So you're planning a traip. Is the trail closed or open?

State Parks' flood, closures, and trail advisories pages

Missouri State Parks has excellent tools in place to show which trail sections are closed due to flooding or any other problems, and which sections of the trail will be closed at various flood stages of the Missouri River:

As of June 2019, we understand that some other sections of the trail are affected by flooding, but not listed above (for example, the North Jefferson Trailhead and nearby trail areas). Generally, any section of the trail near the Missouri River or in the Missouri River floodplain should be considered at risk for flooding in spring/summer 2019.

The 47-mile Rock Island Trail Spur, which connects the Katy Trail from Windsor to Chilhouee, Calhoun, and Pleasant Hill, is considered part of Katy Trail State Park and so will be included in any advisories on the pages above.
