A celebration took place across Mid-Missouri Saturday to celebrate the country’s longest recreational rail-trail.

Katy Trail State Park celebrated Founders Day on April 25 with events scheduled along the trail.

At the North Jefferson City Trailhead in Holts Summit, residents gathered to listen to live music and to soak in the scenery.

Katy Trail opened in 1990, and this was its 36th anniversary of being opened.

Founders Day celebrates the visionary creators of the Katy Trail, Edward “Ted” Jones Jr. and his wife, Pat.
