Bike With Your Boots On- St. Vincent Greenway

DateTime:
06/05/2011 - 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Join the River des Peres Watershed Coalition in our Bike With Your Boots On bike ride/water quality monitoring event along the St. Vincent Greenway, located in Normandy, Mo. The symbiosis of trail and stream presents a unique opportunity for cyclists to observe the stream from the trail and from streamside as we test the water chemistry and look at what is living in the River des Peres. For this event we will take macroinvertebrate samples at our stating and ending points on the trail, as well as conducting water quality monitoring (water temperature, pH, turbidity, and other readings) along Engelholm creek. The St.Vincent Greenway trail is accessible from the St. Charles Rock Road Metrolink Station (East of St.Vincent Park), we will meet at St. Vincent park parking lot adjacent to the creek (Enter St. Vincent park, from St. Charles Rock Road, make the first right and proceed to the bottom of the hill. All participants must wear helmets! This event is great for students, scout groups, and anyone who likes exploring streams. At the end of the event we will provide hot dogs, burgers and chips!
