About the Rock Island Run I
The Rock Island Run I will take place on newest stretch of the Katy Trail Connection to Kansas City, which follows the old Rock Island railroad line.
The first completed section of the Katy Trail Connection to KC, the MOPAC Trail, links downtown Pleasant Hill to Pleasant Hill Lake. The run will take you along this scenic and historic trail. The Katy Trail connection will eventually run from Windsor on the Katy Trail to downtown Kansas City--and beyond.
Each year as new sections of the Katy Trail connection between Windsor and downtown Kansas City open, we will feature different routes and parts of the Rock Island-Katy Connector, the MOPAC Trail, and the other trails that will become part of our state's world-class trail system.
The Katy Trail Connection Run includes 5K run and 5 mile run options, as well as a 5K walk option.
The 5K and 5 mile courses are USAT&F certified and your race fee includes race day timing.Proceeds of the Run will benefit the Missouri Bicycle and Pedestrian Federation and our advocacy work that helps make Missouri a better, safer place to walk, run, and bicycle.
Important Note: Due to last-minute route issues, the Half Marathon option has been replaced by a 5 Mile Run this year--and price reduced.
