September Escapade TRIRI
September Escapade™ will guide you to the scenic and historic sites of south central Indiana, with overnights at three state parks: Brown County (two nights), Spring Mill (two nights), and McCormick's Creek (one night). Routes use rural, hard-surfaced roads, with stops in small towns for services. Terrain ranges from rolling to hilly with some challenging hills. Ridership is limited to 250 participants.
This particular route features cycling through the beautiful Cordry-Sweetwater Lakes region of Brown County, time to visit the former artist colony of Nashville and the university town of Bloomington, home to the movie"Breaking Away," plus rural sites of interest such as a restored 1800s grist mill and country store. Our food is fabulous, and we are also planning an evening beer garden featuring locally brewed craft beer.
September Escapade offers a choice of inn lodging (no cabins) or tent camping at all three state parks. Indiana State Park Inns are modern and well-appointed, with high quality linens, comfortable furniture, air conditioning, and free WiFi. Learn more about the Indiana State Park Inns.
Expect to ride an average 75 miles on the days we travel to a new state park, and train to be able to complete this distance over hilly terrain. Two layover days offer two or three loop rides of varying distances, or free time to explore the park, with activities such as hiking, horseback riding and photography. Non-cycling family or friends are welcome to register as driving participants, and will receive all event privileges.
