Mo Bike Fed annual meeting SUNDAY Nov. 2 in Jeff City!
Submitted by Brent Hugh on Mon, 10/27/2003 - 5:43pm
This Sunday, November 2, is the Annual Meeting of the Missouri Bicycle Federation, THE lobbying organization for the state's bicyclists. Accomplishments over the past year include drafting and shepherding a very strong bike safety bill. It withered at the last moment, dead at the hand of unrelated partisan politics in the legislature, but we made key allies and we will try again. We shall be victorious, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.
We've also been in numerous statewide media, and provide the Driver Notice program, which sends a letter to the home of aggessive/dangerous drivers who threaten cyclists. We're involved in statewide mapping projects, representing cyclists on state committees and making things better for folks on bikes.
MBF is all volunteer. If you want to see things improve, raise your hand and offer up your skills! Details of the org are at www.mobikefed.org
Here's tentative agenda highlights:
1) Bike/ped safety bill
2) State conference
3) Safe Routes to Schools
4) Candidate Questionnaires
5) MODOT update
6) TEA-21 renewal
7) Election of officers
8) Political action committee?
