Guided bicycle trips follow Lewis & Clark trail
Submitted by Brent Hugh on Sat, 02/07/2004 - 10:33pm
Today's Washington Post has an article about celebrations of the Lewis and Clark bicentennial, including these bicycle trips starting in St. Louis:
On bike. Historical Trails Cycling (888-202-4077, www.historicaltrailscycling.com) is sponsoring a 2,800-mile, 44-day tour from St. Louis to the Pacific starting June 15; $3,200. Timberline Adventures (800-417-2453, www.timbertours.com) also is doing a lengthy trip -- 3,330 miles over 48 days starting June 13; $9,000. Cyclists can choose to bike shorter segments of both trips for reduced prices.
The article also mentions Kansas City's July 4th Lewis and Clark celebration(website). (The official opening of the Riverfront Heritage Trail will be a bg part of this July 4th celebration; the trail gives access to Kaw Point, where the expedition camped.) The article also highlights the ExploreStLouis web site.
