Stage 13 will be broadcast in 19 Regal Theatres across the US, the first time the race has made it live onto the silver screen in America. The screenings are to raise funds for the Tyler Hamilton Foundation. The Tyler Hamilton Foundation web site has details and registration info.
Scheduled for Saturday, July 17th, the fundraiser's two lead sponsors are Outdoor Life Network and Regal CineMedia.
"This is quite a unique opportunity to watch the Tour and experience all of the sights, sounds, majestic landscapes and heart-pounding action on a big screen," said Deirdre Moynihan, executive director of the Tyler Hamilton Foundation.
"Thanks to the support provided by Regal CineMedia and OLN, we'll be able to give US cycling fans across the country a larger than life Tour de France experience. What's more, the event will raise much needed funds to help individuals affected by multiple sclerosis and inspire young, American athletes with a passion for cycling."
Beginning simultaneously across all four time zones, the event will showcase one of the race's most exciting stages, a treacherous, 135-mile journey through the Pyrenees.
OLN will provide the satellite feed to the REG movie theatres.
"Just knowing that an entire nation of fans and enthusiasts are supporting the Foundation and watching me race live, will provide much needed strength during a particularly difficult juncture of this race," said Tyler Hamilton.
There will be door prizes at each theatre, including Kryptonite locks, Clif Bars, Speedplay pedals and other cycling goodies.
Launched in January 2004 by Tyler Hamilton, the Tyler Hamilton Foundation's mission is to provide opportunity and access for individuals affected by multiple sclerosis and aspiring young athletes with a passion for cycling.
