Kansas City Bicycle Design Guidance available online

The Kansas City chapter of the American Public Works Association has made available its Local Bicycle
Facility Design Guidance (PDF format, 1.85 MB). The document was approved 12/2002 but has only recently been made available online.
The document includes valuable guidance that is suited for the conditions in the Kansas City metropolitan area, about how both on- and off-street bicycle accommodations can be included in new construction or retrofitted on previously existing streets.
As all the KCAPWA specifications are, the document is designed so that it can be adopted by local communities wholesale into their local street plans, thus becoming official design guidance to be followed by the local public works department.
