EarthRiders to renovate Shawnee Mission Park trail

A Kansas City Star article Saturday told about a new project undertaken by EarthRiders:
The future of mountain biking in Shawnee Mission Park has just become brighter.

The Earth Riders Mountain Bike Club of Kansas City and the Johnson County Parks and Recreation District are coordinating a plan to renovate and expand the park's four-mile bike trail. . . .

[Earthriders' former president and project manager Sean] Cairns said that because of the trail's design it has suffered significant deterioration over the years.

“The first phase of our plan is to implement a modern trail design that controls those problems. The second phase will focus on expanding the trail by around three and a half to four miles,” he said.
