Adriana Giraldo awarded "Distinguished Service to Missouri Bicycling" honors
Missouri Bicycle Federation celebrates National Bike Month by honoring community bicycle advocate and researcher.
The Missouri Bicycle Federation, Inc., will present Springfield bicycle advocate Adriana Giraldo with its prestigious "Distinguished Service to Missouri Bicycling" Award at the MoBikeFed quarterly board meeting in Columbia on Sunday, May 15th.
Adriana has commuted by bicycle during the three years she has lived in Springfield.
Adriana recently completed her Master's Degree in Resource Planning at SMSU. Her thesis was "Obstacles to Alternative Transportation in Springfield Missouri Area".
Adriana is a member of SpringBike and is active on SpringBike's Bicycle Advocacy Committee. According to committee members, she rarely, if ever, misses a meeting.
Adriana is a member of the Missouri Bicycle Federation.
Adriana has served on the following committees in her community: Bicycle / Pedestrian Committee to develop a bicycle plan for the City of Springfield; the Pedestrian / Bicycle Subcommittee of the Traffic Advisory Board (City of Springfield); and Safe Routes to Schools. Adriana is now a planning intern for the Ozarks Transpiration Organization (MPO).
Adriana has taken the League of American Bicyclists' Road I course and has actively encouraged others to do so. She is directly responsible for at least two other students attending.
Adriana has volunteered to help in numerous advocacy activities and events and has been a stalwart in the Springfield bicycle advocacy community.
