Building strong bones
An article in Bicycling Magazine suggested these steps for bicyclists to take to help build strong bones:
- USE SUPPLEMENTS to get at least 1.200 mg of calcium per day.
- ADD YOGURT, MILK (any type) and other high-calcium products to your regular diet
- CUT BACK ON SMOKING, ALCOHOL AND SODA.
- LIFT WEIGHTS AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK
- DO BACK EXERCISES TWICE A WEEK
- RUN, HIKE, SKIP ROPE OR JUMP AROUND
- STAND UP MORE OFTEN ON THE BIKE
- MOUNTAIN BIKE MORE
- CONSIDER GETTING A BONE SCAN
