Columbia's Rangeline Road project to include bike lanes & sidewalks

Columbia's Rangeline Road (Route 763) project has been planned and discussed for many years. Columbia's road standards require that all road construction include bicycle and pedestrian accommodations. As costs of the proposed Rangeline construction rose, some blamed the additional costs on bicycle and pedestrian accommodation.

However, a plan has now been adopted that will include both sidewalks and bicycle lanes:

MoDOT has plans for dealing with all that traffic- a widening project on Route 763.

"We're widening it from two lanes to four lanes and we will be adding a seven foot shoulder that has a dedicated bike lane on either side of the road, with a six foot sidewalk outside of that," said Kenny Voss, MoDOT project manager.
