A Kansas City Star article talks about UM-Rolla student Jerrod Bouchard's plans to participate in the upcoming human-powered vehicle speed record attempts at Battle Mountain, Nevada:
A University of Missouri-Rolla student wants to become the fastest person on two wheels.
In October, Jerrod Bouchard of Camdenton, Mo., a senior majoring in mechanical engineering, will pedal down one of the straightest, smoothest surfaces in the world in Battle Mountain, Nev., trying to break the human-powered land speed record of 61.5 mph.
Bouchard won’t be on just any cycle — he will be sitting on a bullet-shaped recumbent bicycle with an aerodynamic shell.
