Policy Statement on Bicycle and Pedestrian Facilities
In keeping with sound principals of sustainable development, energy conservation and the promotion of active and healthy lifestyles, Judy Baker supports the mission of the Missouri Bicycle Federation and the "complete streets" approach to road and street design. That is, new roads and streets, particularly in densely populated areas, should be designed to provide safe bicycle and pedestrian accessibility: sidewalks, dedicated bike lanes and/or separate bike paths, marked crosswalks and pedestrian/bicycle actuated traffic signals. Existing roads and streets that were not built to "complete street" standards should, as is reasonably practical and when funding is available, be retrofitted for bicycle and pedestrian use.
Judy Baker looks forward to working with the Missouri Bicycle Federation, local communities and bicyclists and pedestrians in the 9th Congressional District on this important issue.
