St. Louis Bike Expo is ON for Jan 25, 2009

Karen Karabell of the St. Louis Regional Bicycle Federation sent the following announcement:

The Midwest Bicycle Expo Swap Meet is absolutely ON for Sunday, January 25, 2009! There are already dozens of vendors signed up, including St. Louis' largest bike shops, clubs, not-for-profits and racers. Thousands of $2 off coupons are in the hands of bicycle enthusiasts. New this year is a silent auction, with loads of bike-themed goodies to bid on. We'll have speakers on cycling topics, opportunities for people to sell just one or two bikes at reduced costs, and free entry for those ages 15 and under. In short, we look forward to the 7th Annual Bike Expo to be the largest, most exciting event yet.

There's some confusion, because the independent organizers of the Classic Bike Show, one component of the St. Louis Regional Bicycle Federation event, have decided not to participate. In its place, we are hoping to have Bicycle Works, another longtime St. Louis not-for-profit, showcase some of their classic bikes and mash-up bikes. Plans are being finalized now.

We invite bike enthusiasts, people who want to start biking, not-for-profits, clubs, teams, commuters, and anybody else who is interested in the purest, most enjoyable form of transportation to join us for our 7th year. All proceeds go to making the St. Louis region a better place to ride.

Mark your calendar! The Midwest Bicycle Expo Swap Meet will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2009, at Gateway Center, One Gateway Drive in Collinsville, IL.
