House Transportation Committee passes Complete Streets resolution; Safe Passing of Bicycles bill

Complete Streets Resolution

HCR 67, Complete Streets resolution, has just passed the House Transportation Committee, vote of 12 to 2 (Wallace and Denison voted against, all others voted in favor).

The resolution lays out the case for Complete Streets, the benefits, the cost savings, and encourages implementation of Complete Streets policies at all levels of government.

Safe Passing of Bicycles Bill

The safe passing of bicycles bill (with amendments to improve as suggested via our recent intensive discussions with committee members) just passed the House Transportation Committee 13-1).

It's been amended onto SB 781. The only dissenting vote was Rep. Maynard Wallace of Thornfield.

The bill was sponsored by Rep. David Sater of Cassville and the amendment to add it to SB 781 today was introduced by Rep. Sally Faith of St Charles
