Katy Trail
20th Anniversary
Rocheport Event. An event
will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010, in Rocheport to
commemorate the 20th anniversary of the April 28, 1990, official opening
of the trail. A ceremony will be held to recognize Pat Jones and other
founders who helped make the trail a reality. The event will also
feature a walk to the Ted Jones Memorial and a commemorative bike ride.
Pedaler's
Jamboree. Welcome in the summer with a slow paced, family
friendly, two wheeled
celebration on the Katy Trail! The Pedaler's Jamboree and the Katy Trail
Celebration Ride (KTCR) bicycle/music festival offer riders of all ages
and abilities the opportunity to hear live music at communities across
the scenic Katy Trail.
Mountain
Biking
Missouri is fortunate to have several
excellent mountain bike trails and is developing a national reputation
as a singeltrack destination. Find a trail near
you via EarthRiders in Kansas City or Gateway
Off-Road Cyclists in St. Louis. For mountain bike racing
info, check out Midwest Fat Tire Series
and United Federation of Dirt.
Racing
Missouri has
a vibrant racing community. The Missouri Bicycle Racing Association
sponsors a full range of professional races, with several happening
this month.
Bike
Polo
Bicycle Polo is quickly emerging as a fun and popular sport. Missouri already has very active scenes in St. Louis, Kansas City, and Columbia.
Critical
Mass
A worldwide movement to make a statement
about bicyclists being a legitimate part of the transportation system,
Critical Mass rides happen on the last Friday of each month. Currently
St. Louis and Kansas City have Critical Mass rides.
