National Bike Week May 16th--events planned around Missouri

May is Bike Month and Bike to Work Week is May 16-20, 2011.

Communities around Missouri are planning all sorts of events for Bike Week.  Here are just a few:

• Columbia - Pednet has a whole week's worth of Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week programs
• St. Louis - Trailnet in cooperation with numerous community groups and businesses is hosting six refueling stations Friday, May 20th
• Springfield - Ozark Greenways is sponsoring Bike, Bus, and Walk Week with a Commuter Challenge, bike-in movie, and more
• Kansas City - BikeWalkKC is sponsoring a full week of events, with a Car Free Challenge, Breakfast at City Hall, Family Bicycle Festival, and Tour de Brew Kansas City as the wrap-up event.
• St. Joseph - the St Joseph Bicycle Club's annual picnic is May 14th and rides are scheduled throughout the month.
• Kirksville - KA-Motion held a Bike and Walk Commuters Day May 1st.

MoBikeFed is involved with two celebration events during Bike Month--and is the nonprofit beneficiary of both events:

• Clips of Faith, St. Louis - Thursday, May 19th, 7:30pm
• Clips of Faith, Kansas City - Thursday, May 26th, 7:00pm

New Belgium Brewery sponsors Clips of Faith, which is a beer and film tour featuring beer tasting and fun family films.  All proceeds benefit MoBikeFed's work in support of better, safer bicycling and walking in Missouri.

The Ride of Silence is taking place on Wednesday, May 18th, in several locations across Missouri, including Kirksville, Springfield, St. Louis, and Kansas City.
