National Bike Summit announced for March 20-22, 2012
The League of American Bicyclists has announced the dates for the 2012 National Bike Summit:
National Bike Summit
March 20-22, 2012
Grand Hyatt, Metro Center, Washington, D.C.
Find out more about the event on the National Bike Summit web page.
In Missouri, we are working to put together a state delegation to the National Bike Summit that includes representatives from each of Missouri's eight congressional districts. Find out more about Missouri's delegation--and how you can join it--here.
MoBikeFed will again be coordinating group housing for the Summit--meaning that you can spend the better part of a week in Washington D.C., including a visit to the Summit and visits with all of your congressional offices to talk about bicycle and pedestrian issues, for about $1000.
Several different organizations--such as bicycle clubs and advocacy organizations--across Missouri have sponsored representatives to visit previous National Bike Summits from Missouri, and their advocacy has paid off. We have had very effective Missouri delegations and have made a real difference in bringing better bicycle and pedestrian facilities to Missouri.
The National Bike Summit is our primary opportunity to have personal visits with our Missouri congressional delegation and their Washington, D.C., staff about bicycle and pedestrian issues and funding.
