Safe Routes to School with Safe Kids Springfield

Daphne Greenlee of Safe Kids Springfield gave an excellent presentation about the Safe Routes to School Work that Safe Kids Springfield, along with a whole coalition of other area groups and organizations, has been doing.

Over the past nine years, Safe Kids Springfield has been involved in projects like:

  • Organizing International Walk to School Day events at area schoools
  • Research into behavior and interests of schoolchildren, parents, drivers
  • Special projects to improve school zone and pedestrian markings and signs
  • Projects to improve sidewalks and crosswalks
  • Year-around programs to promote safety walking and biking to school
  • Community partnerships
