More about the 2013 Freedom Ride:

Cancer affects individuals, families and communities everywhere. The Freedom from Cancer Ride is a local response by members of the United We Ride cycling team to raise funds for cancer research, treatment and family support services. The team strives to unite local communities in a common fight against cancer and promote bicycling safety, transportation, fitness and fun.

United We Ride has raised more than $1.2 million for Multiple Sclerosis research and treatment through the team's annual participation in the MS Bike Ride. Because cancer impacts even more people, it was a natural fit for the team to embrace this new cause with the same enthusiasm and aggressive goals.

Benefiting Alex's Lemonade Stand, a portion of the net proceeds from the Freedom Ride are committed to this great organization. Alex's Lemonade Stand focuses on the fight against childhood cancers.

The Freedom from Cancer Ride begins in Independence, Missouri and offers options ranging from 1 to 35 miles on Little Blue Trace Trail or 20-86 miles of country roads in Eastern Jackson County and Western Lafayette County. The road route takes cyclists through Independence, Sibley, Buckner, Wellington and Lexington.
