Two Rivers Bike Park opens south of Springfield

Two Rivers Bike Park offers 8.5 miles of mountain biking, hiking and trail-running paths cut into the hills near the confluence of the Finley and James rivers. It opens to the public at 10 a.m. Saturday after months of construction and preparation.

The park, a project undertaken by the nonprofit TrailSpring Foundation in Springfield, is free to enter, and will be open from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week. Saturday’s grand opening also will feature equipment demonstrations from area bike shops, food and drink to purchase, music and mountain bike skill sessions.

“People can try out the new trails, and there’s a skills track next to our renovated barn that has everything you’ll encounter on the trails,” said TrailSpring founder Matt O’Reilly. “The skills track is a 400-meter loop with alternate routes that’s designed for kids up to adults.” . . .

From Missouri 14 west of Nixa, take Highway M south about five miles, then left on M-140 (Equine Valley Road), then right on M-140-A (Two Rivers Road).
