New trail section added to St. Joseph Parkway trails system
St. Joseph recently unviled a new section of the St. Joseph Parkway trails system. According to the St. Joseph News-Press:
City officials unveiled a recently completed portion of the Parkway System on Wednesday afternoon.
Runners and bicyclists wrapped in warm workout gear were seen using the urban trail as the ribbon-cutting ceremony took place. Bill McKinney, director of Parks, Recreation & Civic Facilities, said they were a testament to the community’s nearly 100-year-old investment.
“You can see, just by looking out your car window when you drive by, just how much it’s used,” he said.
The new portion of trail extends from near Corby Pond northeast to Ashland Avenue. It’s a little less than a mile long.
A New York couple peddled along St. Joseph's Parkway for hours.
Denise and Dave Paddock were leaving Wyoming, and on their way back to New York.
They heard about the Parkway, and decided to stop for a quick bike ride.
"That's why we came here," said Dave Paddock.
The popular urban trail runs from Hyde Park to Krug Park.
The city recently completed a new portion of the Parkway, that the Paddocks said makes the trail that much more enjoyable.
"The whole park is gorgeous. The Parkway is incredibly smooth and fun," said Denise Paddock.
"It's very nice. It's very well-done, it's smooth, nice, it's a good addition," said Dave Paddock.
The mile-long addition starts near Corby Pond and extends to Ashland Avenue.
