Farmington City Council member hit and injured while cycling

A Farmington city council member was injured while bicycling recently:

A Farmington, Missouri man was injured after being hit by a car while riding a bicycle on Flat River Road at Fairgrounds Road.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, on Tuesday, June 17 at 6:55 a.m. Brandi L. Visnovske, 33, from Bonne Terre, Mo. was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze southbound when she turned onto Flat River Road and hit a bicyclist.

The man was identified at 57-year-old David B. Holman. He is a Farmington city councilman.

The Daily Journal adds:

Holman currently sits on the Farmington City Council, having also served on the governing body previously. He also owns and operates Holman Healthcare, the parent company of a pharmacy and medical equipment supply company in Farmington.

Farmington has an active cycling community.  The city is on the TransAmerica Trail and operates Al's Place, a hostel catering to TransAmerica Trail riders (Facebook).

Farmington is currently working with MoDOT, MoBikeFed, and the Adventure Cycling Association to host a ribbon cutting and celebration of the opening of the Missouri TransAmerica Trail signing project.  The ride and celebration is planned for Saturday, October 11th, 2014.
