Tour of Kansas City 2015: Rides, races, run, brew fest - benefiting our statewide advocacy work
The Tour of Kansas City is a four-day cycling festival celebrating health, and fitness while promoting the cycling culture. With opportunities for every level of bicycle enthusiast, from the novice rider to the professional racer, there is something for everyone.
The Tour is May 25th-May 31st, 2015.
Cyclists can participate in non-competitive events including the region’s first Gran Fondo on Monday, May 25th.
The Tour of KC 5K Run is new for 2015 and will be held Saturday, May 30th.
Those looking for something a little more thrilling can take part in any, or all, of the weekend’s race events.
The 2015 TKC will be an omnium, with male and female champions crowned. A new prologue time trial, the iconic Cliff Drive Circuit Race, and a new criterium venue are all part of this year’s event.
The 2015 TKC became the first race in the U.S. with higher payouts in the women's races than the mens. This more than doubles payouts for the women's fields compared with 2014. Race Director Matt Maher said:
Increasing women’s participation in the sport of cycling is key to the growth and success of the sport. In an effort to increase women’s field sizes, The Tour of Kansas City has significantly increased the women’s payouts. In fact, the women’s payouts have been increased by over $4000 from last year’s event.
Kids can join in the action, too, by taking part in the rides or the free Kids Bike Races.
Join the TKC Microbrew and BBQ Festival Saturday, May 30th at Cliff Drive.
Spectators and participants will enjoy a weekend full of fun, fast racing, and various festival activities.
The Tour of Kansas City raises funds for the Missouri Foundation for Bicycling and Walking, our 501(c)3 wing, which fosters better, safer bicycling and walking across Missouri through education and outreach.
