Clearing work along the eastern part of Washington’s Rotary Riverfront Trail should begin soon, a Missouri Department of Transportation official said.

The work will be among the first jobs related to construction of the new Highway 47 Missouri River bridge.

Officials and citizens participated in a groundbreaking ceremony last Friday, Aug. 12, to mark the start of the project.

MoBikeFed comment: Hwy 47 will include a bike/ped path and connect Washington MO to the Katy Trail. It will also be a key link in the Katy Trail/Rock Island Trail statewide trail loop.

The Riverfront Trail is part of the connection as well.
