About the Third Annual Missouri Active Transportation Summit

We invite you to join us for the 2018 Missouri Active Transportation Summit, where we will be sharing ideas for making our communities more active, vibrant, healthy, and economically sustainable through bicycling, walking, and trails.
- Sessions from all across Missouri and adjoining states--from the largest cities to the suburbs to the smallest rural communities: Bike share, rural county trails plans, regional and local pedestrian plans, our statewide U.S. bicycle route connections, small towns and large cities integrating bicycling
- An extended workshop option: Energizing your local community to maximize the economic impact of trails and active transportation on your community by New Growth.
- Keynote speakers--Eric Schroeter, MoDOT State Design Engineer and David Wright, Parks and Recreation Director of Bentonville AR and one of the major architects of the astonishing NW Arkansas Bicycle Boom
- Hands-on mobile sessions
- Walk and bike tours of Jefferson City
- Meet and mingle with other Missouri bicycle & pedestrian professionals and advocacy staff from around Missouri
- The annual meeting of the Missouri Chapter of the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals.

The Summit is organized by the Missouri Chapter of the Association of Bicycle and Pedestrian Professionals and the Missouri Bicycle and Pedestrian Federation in cooperation with pedestrian, bicycle, and trails agencies, businesses, advocacy groups, and staff from across Missouri .

2018 Summit themes & topics
Main Summit topics and themes will include:
- Trail Towns: Preparing your community invite trail and non-motorized tourism and to maximize the benefit of Katy Trail, Rock Island Trail, or other trail or active transportation-related tourism and economic development
- Complete Streets & Liveable Streets in Missouri: Building support for, passing, and implementing your Complete Streets policy
- Tourism and the economic impact of bicycling, walking, and trails: What is the economic importance of bicycling, walking, and trails to your community, and what can you do to maximize the economic impact to your community, to your local business community, and to Missouri?
- Health and Safety impacts of bicycling, walking, and trails
- Making bicycling, walking, and trails succeed in rural, suburban, and urban settings, and small, medium, and large communities across Missouri

Registration/Check-in Desk opens at 8am, Jefferson City Police Department Building, 401 Monroe St., southwest entrance lobby, near PD Classroom
Summit Registration, Plenary, and Keynote sessions will be held in the:

Breakout sessions will be held in the "Police Classroom," "City Hall - Council Chambers," and "City Hall - Boone/Bancroft Room"--all within the Jefferson City Municipal Complex. Session locations and parking locations are shown in the map below.
Free parking is available in Lot 24, adjacent to city hall at the corner of Adams St. and McCarty St. This lot has signage stating a tag is needed, but that is not necessary for the day of the summit.Jefferson City, Summit locations, and several local hotels are easily accessible from the Jefferson City Amtrak station.
