Why: Because some people want to ride more regularly, but feel the need to be more comfortable on their bikes. Others ride regularly but would like to fine-tune their riding skills. Whether the rider is considering commuting to work by bike or simply wants to learn more about how to ride safely, Trailnet has just the class. Trailnet is offering two separate 5-hour hands-on classes on how to ride visibly, predictably, and safely. Classes include some basic bike maintenance skills.
The course will be led by a League of American Bicyclists certified cycling instructor (www.bikeleague.org). The class will cover what to check on a bike before a ride, riding safely in traffic, common avoidance maneuvers, and much more. The goal of the class is to build rider confidence so participants are able to cycle in any situation.
How much: Free; sponsored by Great Rivers Greenway. Register online at www.trailnet.org/travel-green; scroll to the bottom of the page and open the BikeSmart tab.
