Excelsior Springs police re-start bicycle patrols
Submitted by Brent Hugh on Tue, 08/05/2003 - 9:01pm
According to a Kansas City Star article, Excelsior Springs police have recently re-started their bicycle patrol program:
Reno said bicycle patrols increase an officer's mobility and allow officers to respond more quickly to emergency calls. . . .
"Bicycles can go places, through alleys, that patrol cars often can't get to," Reno said. "This gives our officers greater visibility."
The bike patrols also serve as an excellent way for officers to interact more easily with residents and business owners.
