Walk to School Day/Week

STLToday had an article and photo about Walk to School Day in the area. President Bush presented the following announcement:
I send greetings to those participating in National Walk to School Day to promote good health and safety for children.

Our Nation has a responsibility to build a secure and nurturing society so that our children can grow, learn, work, and succeed. By encouraging walking or biking to school, this Day challenges students to reach their potential and helps them establish a foundation for a lifetime of health and fitness.

I commend the Partnership for a Walkable America and all organizations involved in today’s events for your dedication to helping improve the health and safety of our Nation’s young people. Your efforts contribute to a stronger America. Laura joins me in sending our best wishes for a successful walk.

(President George W. Bush, October 8, 2003)
There is still one more day in Walk/Bike to School Week 2003 (Friday, Oct 9th)--don't miss your chance to participate!
