Walk/Bike to School Day October 6th, 2004
Submitted by Brent Hugh on Tue, 09/21/2004 - 6:03am
In October 2003, more than 2.5 million children, parents, and community leaders from 29 countries around the world joined together in celebration of International Walk to School Day. This year's International Walk to School Day will be held October 6, 2004. The goal of the walk varies from community to community. Some walks rally for safer and improved streets, some to promote healthier habits and some to conserve the environment. Whatever the reason, Walk to School Day events encourage a more walkable world one community at a time.
In October 2003 seventeen schools in the Greater Kansas City Area joined schools from around the country to celebrate Walk to School Day. This is the eighteenth year this national event has been held. Already seventeen schools in the Greater Kansas City Area are signed up.
The simple act of walking to school together promotes -good health, safety, physical activity and concern for the environment.
We encourage your school to sign up if you have not already. The attached flyer contains all the information you will need to do this. Help make this year our strongest yet. Pass this information on and encourage others to join you.
MARC has produced a printable Walk to School Flyer with all the information you need.
