Mike Hendricks states the obvious

Sometimes things are so plain and obvious that no one dares to say them. The KCStar's columnist Mike Hendricks said some of them today:
Instead of changing our lifestyles, we have acted as if gasoline will always be cheap and in endless supply.
True, we've gone on short-term self-improvement jags. Some of you may remember the late 1970s, when we gave up our land yachts for smaller, more fuel-efficient cars.
But it was like one of those fad diets where we eventually ditch the Lean Cuisine and go back to stuffing our face with Krispy Kremes.
It didn't take.
From the 1980s right through today, autos have gotten bigger, cities more spread out.
Who takes the bus or walks or bikes to work or the store?
