Katy Trail Connection to KC supported in KCStar letter
The following letter appeared in Friday's Kansas City Star:
Regarding the editorial (2/24) supporting the Katy Trail connection: I hope citizens throughout the Kansas City region will realize the importance of the Katy Trail connection to Kansas City. The trail has an international reputation and is Missouri's most popular state park, according to Department of Natural Resources officials.
Connecting Kansas City to this internationally recognized tourist attraction will have a tremendous influence. Imagine being able to hop on your bike and ride from the Liberty Memorial to the Gateway Arch.
Imagine a Katy Trail that plugs into more than 1,100 miles of seamlessly connected recreational trails in Kansas City's MetroGreen network — rather than the measly and disconnected hundred miles or so we have now.
But it will happen only if citizens stand up and demand that public officials support a complete Katy Trail — from state line to state line.
