Scuola Vita Nuova Bike Club to join MoBikeFed for Katy Trail ride with legislators

Students from Scuola Vita Nuova, a charter school in Kansas City, will join MoBikeFed and legislators from Jefferson City on a Katy Trail Ride with Missouri Legislators at 1PM, Monday, April 20th, 2009.

The students are participating in the Wheels Can Take Me Places Project, a cooperative effort between the school and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

The students are working to learn to bicycle, build up their stamina and extend their mileage, and in June they will ride the entire 225-mile Katy Trail.

Kenneth Walker of the Urban Kansas City Community of Cycling is working regularly with the students on bicycling skills and rides.

The Wheels Can Take Me Places Project is a great program to get kids bicycling and gives kids real (and fun!) experiences with nature and the out of doors.

We're very pleased to have the students join us for our bicycle ride with the legislators this year.

Increasing the number of school bicycle clubs is one of the goals in MoBikeFed's Vision for Bicycling and Walking in Missouri.
