PFP TV covers Livable Communities and Missouri River Bridges
John Wetmore's Perils For Pedestrians #170 has an interview with U.S. Deputy Secretary of Transporation John Porcari and coverage of bike/ped access to bridges over the Missouri River in Omaha and Kansas City.
In the Kansas City segment, which starts about 15 minutes in, Wetmore interviews Kansas City advocate Laurie Chipman about the Paseo Bridge and the work to include bicycle and pedestrian accommodations on the Paseo Bridge.
As Wetmore notes, since the time of this interview, MoDOT has added bicycle and pedestrian accommodations to two Kansas City area Missouri River Bridges--Heart of America and Chouteau. MoDOT also designed and constructed the Paseo Bridge so that there is the potential to added a bicyce/pedestrian path at a later date, though no bike/ped path is included in the initial construction, which (as of February 2011) is nearly complete.
