Sedalia News-Journal covers MoBikeFed Board Retreat in Sedalia
The Missouri Bicycle and Pedestrian Federation held their yearly retreat and Board of Directors meeting in Sedalia August 6 – 7.
The federation represents 30,000 Missourians and works for bicycle and walking advocacy and safety in promoting a movement to encourage human powered transportation and locomotion and making the roads safe for all users in creating a statewide network. They are involved in Safe Routes to Schools, education, transportation planning, legislative advocacy, walks and cycle rides and routes and work to partner with groups across the state.
While we were in Sedalia, our local host, MoBikeFed member and supporter Doug Kiburz, took us on a lunchtime tour of the Katy Trail through Sedalia, to the Katy Depot.
A committee of community members in Sedalia is working on a citywide bicycle plan that will tie the entire city into the Katy Trail, which runs right through the middle of the city.
Among the items we discussed at the Retreat were the Legislative Platform, MoBikeFed's Vision, Capitol Day 2012, the 2012 National Bike Summit, board development, and membership growth.
