MoBikeFed seeks BikeMO organizer - $1000 stipend
Do you like to organize things? Would you like to become a vital part of a bicycle ride that brings people together from all around Missouri? Would you like to work with a great group of volunteers and staff from around the state? Would you like to help MoBikeFed carry out its mission and have a lot of fun in the process?
And would you like to make $1000 while doing all that?
Then we need you--to chair BikeMO 2011, MoBikeFed's annual Fall Harvest and Pumpkin Ride in mid-Missouri.
We are offering a $1000 stipend to the organizer, plus travel and other expenses.
This is the seventh annual BikeMO, so we have an experienced team of board members and volunteers who have run this event many times in the past. They have done route marking, registration, finances, roving sag, sag stops, marketing and promotion and all the rest. We are simply looking for someone to provide leadership and organization to that team.
Your job:
- Lead weekly teleconferences between now & October 15th (ride day)
- Talk with team members about their jobs and remind them of deadlines
- Help organize route marking and/or help mark the route in the couple of days before October 15th
- Be in the Holts Summit the afternoon before the event and the day of the event to help help organize and run the event
Other important points:
- You can do this from anywhere within the state of Missouri - previous chairs have been from the Kansas City area and the Kirksville area.
- We estimate that you will put about 40-60 hours into this job between now and October 15th.
- We have ride organization manuals and copious notes from previous years.
- The ride is held Saturday, October 15th, 2011 and generally attracts 150-200 bicyclists from around the state.
We feel that this event has some real untapped potential, so if you are interested, this position could continue (and possibly expand) for the 2012 event.
If you would like to help organize BikeMO 2011, or if you have questions, please contact Brent: director@mobikefed.org or 816-695-6736.
