Although the number of injury accidents between pedestrians and vehicles in Columbia is on a downward trend, the Mayor’s Task Force on Pedestrian Safety is setting its sights on reducing the number to zero.
At its inaugural meeting Tuesday, the task force reviewed the history of pedestrian and vehicle crashes in Columbia and established a plan for drafting recommendations. Fourteen of the task force’s 15-member committee, including co-chairmen First Ward Councilman Clyde Ruffin and Fourth Ward Councilman Ian Thomas, were at the meeting.
