MoBikeFed comment: Missouri has a lot of highway miles. It also has a high percentage of road miles owned and operated by the state DOT. Roads that are county roads in most midwest states are state highways in Missouri.

With MoDOT facing a funding pinch, is it time to consider getting some of those miles out of the state system and returning them to local control?
