Family of a 32-year-old man who was hit and killed on his bicycle Sunday evening said Anthony Saluto was a huge Royals fan, popular barista at a local coffee shop and loved by many.
"He just wanted to have a good time and help others around him feel good too," said Mark Lomas, the victim's cousin who also worked with him at Opera House Coffee & Food Emporioum in The River Market. "I drew a lot of inspiration from that."
Saluto was hit and killed by a car near Lydia and 24 Highway around 6 p.m. Sunday. Family said he was on his way home to watch the Royals game. Police said the car was headed eastbound when the driver crossed over into the other lane, hitting a man on a bike, who family identify as Saluto.
