Ride with Missouri Legislators
Ride with Missouri Legislators

  • Capitol Day Registration closed, event cancelled for 2024

Join supporters of bicycling, walking, and trails from around the state as we come together to talk to our legislators about topics in MBF's Vision for Active Transportation in Missouri and other current bicycle, pedestrian, and trails issues and projects.

Our main activity for the 2024 Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Trails Day at the Capitol will be our annual Ride with Legislators.  For those who want to visit legislators and/or drop off information, we will have information sheets - we'll meet in the 3rd floor Capitol Rotunda after teh ride.

Please Do Contact Your Legislators This Week

Even though the ride and visits are cancelled for 2024, please do contact your own state legislators with these messages:  (Click here to look up contact info for your own Missouri State Senator and State Representative)

  • Thank you for your support of the Rock Island Trail over the years and the work the General Assembly has done to make the new State Park a reality.  The General Assembly has opened the way for Rock Island Trail State Park by creating the Rock Island Trail Endowment Fund, providing for  fencing along the trail to help protect adjoining landowners, and other ways.  We appreciate their work and we are excited to see the first pieces of the new Rock Island Trail State Park open in 2024 - including sections in Gerald, Owensville, Belle, Eldon, Versailles, Cole Camp, and elsewhere that are slated to open soon!

  • Thanks also the our state legislators for passing the Siddens Bening Hands-Free Law last year (SBs 56, 61, and 398), after so many years of work towards its passage.  It is some of the most important roadway safety legislation we have seen in the past decade and we really appreciate legislators' work in making this happen.

  • State funding and support for better, safer places to walk and bicycle, and a better, more connected trail system across the state is more important now than ever before.  We have seen a huge increase in the number of people walking, bicycling, and using our trails in the past few years and we appreciate our legislators support in improving access and safety for people who walk and bicycle - because in Missouri we still have a lot of work today. If you can, Include a brief personal story or explanation for why bicycling, walking, and/or trails is particularly important to you and to your community.
